How 2 Help the Kenyan School Fund

There are many ways in which you can help us fundraise for the Kenyan School. You could take part in one of our fundraising events such as the Orwell Walk or the Ipswich Hospital Abseil. You could consider taking part in one of our quizzes, karaoke/bingo nights, live music events or simply donate your unwanted items to our car boot sales. If you can't manage any of those then simply sponsor somebody who is taking part.

The Kenyan School Fund prides itself on helping to bring a greater sense of community and enabling the people of Ipswich and beyond to enjoy the activities that are organized by us. The support in Kenya is very much appreciated and we know they are working equally as hard to organize and run the new school and promote the education and well being of the Kenyan children.

Schools

What better than kids helping kids!

Would your school like to help our Fund?

There are simple ways that you could raise money and support the opening and continual running of the Kenyan school. All schools who donate will be allowed to have a plaque, photograph of pupils or school badge displayed at the school in Mombasa.

Karaoke

If you fancy yourself as a Frank Sinatra, Elvis or even a Madonna then the karaoke X Factor competition could be for you.

The set up is the same as the T.V version with a panel of judges and various heats (auditions) for our competitors to enter. There are 5 heats for you to try your luck in and a small entry fee is required. Two winners from each heat go into the grand final with cash prizes up for grabs.

Competitions held at the John Bull Pub on Woodbridge Rd, Ipswich.

Please go to our Events Page to see when the next karaoke will be running.

Car Boot Sales

Donations and bargains galore

We regularly collect unwanted items so that we can sell them at Car Boot Sales.

We have run several in the past and they prove to be a huge success.

It's easier to raise money this way as people are getting something for their money and their money is gratefully received by the Fund.

Quizzes

The quizzes that we run are always an enormous success so we have decided to run quiz nights every three months.

The event is ticket only and food is always provided.

The teams can be up to six people and costs £5.00 per person.

The nights start around 7.30 pm and are held at the Kirby Rd Conservative Club.

Please visit our events listing to see when the next quiz night will be on.

Gigs

The first event we ever set up was a Gig Night at the Grinning Rat in Ipswich which was a big hit. We had three singer song writers that sang their hearts out for our cause. The night also consisted of a beat box artists which took the crowd by storm.

Since then we have held an all day event in December 07 and will be holding the next in June 08. This time we have introduced Dj's in to the fold and we are sure they will compliment the live acts.

The gigs are an ideal event to support Ipswich's musical talents and are lively and exciting. They are for anybody who appreciates individuality, holds a sense of community or simply want to help others to lead better lives.

So go to our Events Listing page and see when the next gig is on.

Sporting Events

If your sporty and feel that you could be up for an energetic challenge then please take part in our sporting events.

This year we will be participating in the Orwell Walk, Ipswich Hospital Abseil and arranging a Swim-a-thon.

The Orwell Walk allows you to walk 11miles or a staggering 26 miles for your nominated charity and we encourage families to take part in this event.

The Ipswich Hospital Abseil is a daredevil of a challenge and also allows fundraising on behalf of nominated charities. Nominees for this challenge are required to abseil down the side of the Maternity wing of Ipswich Hospital.

Finally we are presently setting up a swim-ma-thon which will allow swimmers of any age raise funds for the school. The date for this event will announced shortly. Please refer to the links for info.

Please keep an eye on our events listing page to see when the next sporting events are being held.

If you fancy yourself as the next hustler then take your chance at one of our fundraising "Pool Matches".

They are held at the Grinning Rat pub every three months. The entry fee is £2.50 each and most events have twelve plus people entering.
